All At Once I Saw A Crowd

Seven Billion People on Earth This Year

We are working on a co-production with Terra Nova based in Northern Ireland. Inspired by scientists and environmentalists we are creating a love story asking the question:
“What would you rather die for than give up?”

Against the backdrop of profound environmental challenge and the global population explosion, this is the love story of a woman activist torn between two men, one Irish and one Chinese.  Set in 2015, the modern story is paralleled by those of two medieval lovers living in the twilight of the Viking colony on Greenland, and two young people from Hong Kong dealing with the reality of a world in 2060.

This production is in English & Chinese, featuring film, animation, puppetry and original music.   Like all projects of this scope All At Once I Saw A Crowd is being created through years of professional collaboration across the globe, coupled with outreach work into a range of local communities in our partnership nations; built workshop by workshop, draft by draft, image by image, always striving to overcome language and cultural barriers to create beautiful and engaging theatre.

Alongside scientists at Queens University Belfast, and with freelance Canadian science writer, Tai Viinikka, there are a series of platform activities to support the science on which the project is based.
